Between the crags of the majestic mountain tops, the largest colony of ibex in Austria has made their home in Kaunergrat Nature Park. The colony counts almost 1,000 animals. Sometimes, they approach hikers and mountaineers. Just like other species from the wide range of flora and fauna that call this mountain world their home.

The Kaunergrat nature park building was constructed in the exact spot where the Kaunertal, the Pitztal and the Inntal meet, known as the “Gachen Blick”. Inside the building, the “3.000 m VERTIKAL” exhibition [translates to “3,000 vertical metres”] tangibly conveys the nature park and glacier region in words and images.
