HOTEL WEISSEESPITZE Winter
Ski tours
The Kaunertal Glacier and its numerous summits, which are close to the 3,000 metre mark, are less frequented than other high-alpine destinations, and pleasantly so, making them an El Dorado for alpine adventurers. From autumn until well into spring, the Kaunertal and the entire Kaunergrat Nature Park offer visitors an excellent terrain for skitouring, splitboarding and snowshoe hiking.
Tours you can’t afford to miss
- Weißseespitze 3.518 m
A spectacular view of the largest glacial plateau in the Eastern Alps awaits you at the summit. - Glockturm 3.355 m
Possibly the most well-known tour in the Kaunertal besides the ascent to the Weisseespitze. - K2 des Kaunertals 3.253 m
Situated at the heart of the Kaunergrat, this tour offers a legendary ascent with an altitude difference of more than 1,400 metres when starting from the Gepatschhaus. - Weisseejoch/Passo di Melago 3.046 m
Short tour and a perfect warm-up with a difference in altitude of a mere 500 metres.
- Platzerspitze 3.098 m
Experience the “dark valley”. This little known tour is only accessible under extremely good firn conditions and leads through the lonely, rarely frequented Kaiserbergtal.
FOR HIKING GRUMPS:
Nörderberg freeride variant. Just a short 20 minute hike from the mountain station of the Nörderjoch I t-bar lift to the old Nörderjoch II lift house, which has been shut down. The entry to the variant descent is situated on the upper ridge. Approx. 1,000 metres difference in altitude awakens pure freeriding pleasure from the ridge to Fernergries car park. From there, take a postbus or taxi back to the ski area. Please observe the level of avalanche risk!
